Dear Employer, We would like to notify you of brand new training opportunities being offered to employers through the implementation of the Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) program. The Job Grant will provide financial support to individual employers who would like to provide training for their employees. Canada-Ontario Job Grant provides an opportunity for employers to invest in their workforce, with help from the government. The Job Grant will be available to those who plan to deliver short-term training to employees, and will: • Provide up to $10,000 in government support per person for training costs. • Require employers to contribute one-third of the total costs. There will be additional flexibility for small businesses to provide an in-kind contribution towards their share of the costs. • Require training to be delivered by an eligible, third-party trainer. The Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities is also introducing two new skills training pilots as a part of the Job Grant: • Customized Training pilot will assist in the development and delivery of firm-specific training solutions that meet employers’ workforce development needs. • UpSkill pilot will support essential and technical skills training tailored to specific sectors for potentially vulnerable workers in low and medium-skilled occupations.
